Campaign Introduction

Each member of the group has given to me, the DM, a background story for their character. I have in turn written a 'campaign introduction' story that explains what has happened to them from the point where their background ends and the campaign begins.

They all pretty much just explain where each character has travelled, and where they have ended up. They are all in Vathirond, a small town in Breland, near the border with the Mournland.

They are each there for different reasons, but they have each booked a nights accommodation in a run down looking inn, called the Bucket Of Nails. Each has retired for the night, and they are in various states of sleep.

Suddenly the quiet of the night is broken by the sounds of a large explosion nearby. The inn quite literally shakes for a moment, with the windows rattling.
